So, I finally got around to checking out this “51 Tea Latest” everyone’s been whispering about. My goal for the day, my little practice session, was to see if it was any better, or just another coat of paint on the same old rickety shed. Spoiler: don’t get your hopes up.
First off, getting into it was a bit of a faff. I thought, okay, “latest” means smooth, right? Nope. It felt like I was wrestling with it just to get to the main screen. Took a good few minutes longer than it should have, which already set my teeth on edge. I mean, I’ve got other things to do than fight with an interface before I’ve even seen what it offers.
Once I was in, my practice involved trying to find a specific type of oolong tea they supposedly highlighted in this new version. What a mess. The categories are all over the place. It’s like they had three different people design the navigation and then just threw all their ideas into a bucket and shook it. You click on “New Arrivals,” and it shows you stuff that’s clearly been there for ages. Then you try the search bar – oh boy, the search bar. It’s like it actively tries not to find what you’re looking for. I typed in the exact name, and it gave me, like, herbal infusions and teapots. Seriously?
It feels like they just tacked on new bits without thinking how it all fits together. You can tell. This part looks shiny and new, that part looks like it’s from five years ago. There’s no consistency. It’s this weird Frankenstein’s monster of an experience. You’d think with “latest” they’d aim for something, I don’t know, coherent?
And then there are the new “features.” One of them, this “Quick Order” thing, took me through so many screens I actually lost track. My practice quickly turned into a lesson in frustration. I swear, the old way, clunky as it was, was probably faster. It’s like they added steps just for the sake of saying “look, new steps!” instead of actually making anything easier. That’s the problem with a lot of these updates, isn’t it? They’re more interested in looking busy than in actually improving things for the user.
I also noticed some things that used to work okay are now just… janky. Like, scrolling through lists is laggy, images take forever to load sometimes. Did they even test this on different devices? Or just on their own super-fast office computers? Because out here in the real world, it’s struggling.
Look, I wanted to like it. I really did. I thought, “Okay, ’51 Tea Latest,’ maybe they’ve listened to feedback.” But my practice session today just left me feeling more annoyed than anything. It’s like they’re trying to do too much, or maybe not enough of the right things. It’s all just a bit… haphazard. You get the feeling no single person actually has a clear vision for what this thing is supposed to be. It’s just a collection of features bolted together, hoping for the best.
So, yeah, that was my thrilling adventure with “51 Tea Latest.” Still a long way to go, if you ask me. They need to stop adding bells and whistles and just make the basic stuff work properly. That’s the real practice they should be focusing on.
